Internet Police

As the internet becomes more of a space, and a place, where people have identities and livelihoods, the same growth can be found in criminal institutions and protocols. I have always said that the internet is a deeply human place, and that includes the less savory and objectionable elements as well. Hate groups, abusers, negative nancies and put-down petes the world over have a new platform to grow into.

Because the geography of the internet is largely based on interest, the tendency to congregate in valleys of affirmation is commonplace. People find tribes that they harmonize with and add to, and when a cross post or a comment disagrees with or disproves one of their ideological pillars, a war begins.

As members and citizens of the internet, whether you hail from youtubia or tumbland, it is our responsibility to police ourselves. We have to make sure that there is a discussion, not a flame war. There are many topics that are being scrutinized, I guess what I am saying is keep it civil out there, chums.

From the future: Woah it's like a federated network of communities! Did I predict mastodon?
