GTS 001 - Quarantine Alpha

Quarantine Alpha

  • Evocation

  • Get a piece of the biggest psychic mushroom’s brain to try and obfuscate thought energy.

  • Caves that wrap around the surface of an immobile asteroid.

  • Myconids

Setting: A lavender asteroid coated in a deep orange fungal growth. The asteroid is stationary relative to the solar system. It is close enough to the sun that it should have fallen into the sun a long time ago.

Deep craters intersect a network of tunnels beneath the surface and serve as massive skylights and windows out to the blackness of space.

The spherical nature of the asteroid is represented by an unwrapped icosahedron with a hexagonal grid. Each face is a triangle, and has three tunnels off to adjacent rooms.

The party teleports into the largest cave that perforates this asteroid. A five foot hollow brass sphere carved with swirling patterns lays motionless in a cradle made of carved stone and metal plates. Through the many swirling slashes in the surface a single rod can be found suspended in the center by several gleaming supports. A DC 10 perception check reveals six 10cm wide, .5m deep holes in the surface of the sphere. A DC 15 investigation or arcanum check reveals the rod at the center to be an immovable rod, and is responsible for the gravitational anomaly.

The entire asteroid is infested with a fungal growth. Wherever the light touches the orange lichen coating lavender rocks dries and flakes off into light flakes.

Deep in the tunnels a 5cm wide, 3m long iron bar protrudes from the rock. A successful attack on the surrounding rock, a DC 20 strength check can free it from the rock. It fits perfectly into the holes on the brass sphere. This enables players to push or pull on the bar (DC 15 STR check), on the housing around the rod and by doing so, rotate the entire asteroid around the immovable rod. This lets the party take full advantage of the Myconids Sunlight Sensitivity, and let the light from the sun hit any room.
